Dollhouse and miniatures:

the extending-table for the dining-room

This is the table I made for the dining-room. The same as the one my parents used to have. The real table was made from oak-wood, but this one is in walnut. This wood has better grain. The legs are cut with a knife, all straight parts are sawn on a table-circle-saw.

Ofcourse the table can really be extended and back again. That surely was not easy, because the side-parts have to go up about 2,3 mm so it egals the inner part. Therefor the sliding-legs were made tapering (?) The inner part lays free and is held in place by little blocks on the down-side.

(sorry for my hopeless english !)

The bottom-part is joined with pins and holes (with a little glue !). De sliding legs slide in the square holes till under the cross-beams in the middle. At the other end the square holes are made on a different distance, so they all can glide in place when the table is not extended.
You see the tapering gliders ? On the left exactly square, and in the middle twice as high, so the sides go up to the level of the main table.

The table is finished with a darking nut-oil.
